Features

Everything office email asks for

Instead of opening a webmail page, staff get a native mail client on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS — smooth scrolling and familiar gestures.

Email

Inbox, personal folders, folders shared with you, and colour labels. Conversation grouping, swipe to act with Undo, and bulk actions on multiple messages.

Compose

Recipient suggestions from the directory, rich text or plain, signatures, attachments. Autosaved drafts, undo send, and an outbox for offline messages.

Calendar

Month view and agenda, recurring events, on-device reminders, and attendee availability. Accept meeting invitations straight from a message.

Contacts

Personal contacts with an A–Z index, sorted correctly for Vietnamese names, plus the organisation-wide directory. Optional sync to the phone.

Search

Search mail, calendar and contacts. Results appear instantly from on-device data, combined with a server-side search.

Offline

Downloaded mail stays readable without a connection. Actions taken offline are queued and pushed up automatically once you are back online.

Vietnamese interface

Switch between Vietnamese and English at any time. System, light or dark theme, and a choice of message text sizes.

Multiple accounts

Several Zimbra addresses in one app, switched from the menu. Sign in with a password or your organisation's SSO.

Reading

Complex HTML mail still reads well on a phone

Institutional reports are usually heavy HTML: wide tables, fixed-layout newsletters, long quoted chains. This is where the app does most of its work.

  1. 1

Wide tables no longer get cut off

Tables are scaled to fit, swiped horizontally inside the table, and the surrounding text stays at a readable size. Pinch to zoom.

  2. 2

    Quotes collapsed, junk removed

The ··· button collapses quoted chains in replies and understands the quote formats of Zimbra, Outlook and Gmail. Stray markup from Word and Outlook is stripped automatically.

  3. 3

Colours stay true to the author

Ordinary messages follow the dark theme; deliberately colourful designs keep the author's colours on a light background rather than being distorted. "View original" turns off all display adjustments.

Remote images blocked by default Senders cannot tell you opened the message. Tap "Download images" when you trust it, or enable it in Settings. Inline images still show.
Links always ask first The real destination is shown before opening — nothing happens silently.

Security

Your data goes straight between your device and your server

There is no developer server in the path.

Local data is encrypted

The on-device database uses SQLCipher, with the key held in the operating system secure store (Keychain, Keystore or Credential Manager).

Your password is never stored

Only the session token is kept, also in the keystore, and it is excluded from device backups.

HTTPS only

HTML mail is sanitised and sandboxed: scripts, forms, iframes and external CSS are blocked.

Minimal permissions

Only Contacts, Calendar and Notifications are requested, and only for features you switch on. Signing out wipes that account's local data.

Requirements

System requirements

For government agencies, businesses and schools running Zimbra.

AnZ Mail system requirements
ServerZimbra 9.x (Open-Source) and 10.x (Network Edition). Nothing to install on the server. Verified in production on Zimbra 10.0.6.
PlatformsWindows, macOS and Linux on desktop; Android and iOS on mobile.
ConnectionHTTPS to your organisation's Zimbra server.
Sign-inPassword or organisational SSO. Two-factor codes are not supported yet.

For administrators

  • No server changes required. The app uses Zimbra's standard SOAP/JSON interfaces over HTTPS.
  • Put your organisation's name on the app. Users enter it at sign-in (up to 12 characters); it replaces the wordmark and appears at the top of the menu.
  • Consider a longer session lifetime. The app does not store passwords, so users sign in again when the session expires. The default is 12 hours; zimbraAuthTokenLifetime can be increased.
  • New-mail notifications are periodic (roughly every 60 seconds while the app is open, roughly every 15 minutes in the background), not instant push. Appointment reminders are delivered as local notifications.
  • 2FA is not supported. Accounts with two-factor authentication enabled cannot sign in with a password yet — worth knowing before a rollout.

Once you have the file, three steps

  1. 1

    Allow installs from unknown sources

The current build is signed with a debug key, so Android will ask. Choose "Install anyway" or enable the option in Settings → Security.

  2. 2

    Enter your work email

The app discovers the server address from your email automatically, or you can enter it manually.

  3. 3

Sign in and add your organisation's name

Enter your password (it is never stored), then a name of up to 12 characters to place on the logo and menu.

FAQ

Quick answers

Which mailboxes does AnZ Mail work with?

Mailboxes hosted on your organisation's Zimbra server. It does not work with Gmail or Outlook.com.

Do I need to install anything on the server?

No. The app uses Zimbra's standard SOAP/JSON interfaces over HTTPS.

What happens when I lose connectivity?

Downloaded mail stays readable. Messages composed offline are queued and sent when you reconnect. Creating or editing contacts and appointments still needs a connection.

Why are images in messages missing?

To prevent tracking, images fetched from the internet are blocked by default. Tap "Download images" or enable automatic loading in Settings. Inline images still display.

Why do I have to sign in again?

Zimbra session tokens expire — usually after 12 hours, and administrators can set a longer lifetime. When it expires, the app shows the sign-in screen with your email filled in.

What if accounts require an authentication code?

The app does not support entering a two-factor code yet, so accounts with 2FA enabled cannot sign in with a password. Contact us for the current status.
